Obituary

Paulette Kay Wells Haney was born October 19, 1947, to the late Paul Manchester and Claira Faye Adkins Wells passed away May 14, 2022, after her brave and valiant battle with an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, one niece Tara Ray Black, and two sisters, Carol Sue Adams, and Diane Faye Tackett.

Paulette is survived by her husband of 56 years. David H. Haney, high school sweethearts, married on July 30, 1966, in Morehead Kentucky, and then moved to Dayton Ohio to start their family.

She is also survived by her two daughters, Lisa Marie Haney and Shannon Rena Haney Howard, one grandson Dalton Lee Wagoner (Teagan), two granddaughters, Meaghann McKenzie Goldy (Brandon), and Haley B. Howard, and three great-grandsons, Ayden K. and Merik D. McKenzie, and Elijah G. Goldy, and two great-granddaughters, Grace A. Goldy, and Laila Jayne Wagoner.

She is also survived by one brother, Paul Douglas Wells who she lovingly referred to as "brother Benny", and two sisters Linda L. Wells Black (Bronson), Mary J. Wells Estep (Jerry). She had a very close relationship with her siblings visiting over the phone multiple times each day and these were some of the highlights of her day.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Paulette began her career as a bookkeeper at Leroy's Jewelry, working her way up to Store Manager and Certified Diamond-ologist, receiving numerous awards and accolades for National Sale Achievements for over 20 years and even winning cruises to Mexico and the Caribbean, and was loved by her loyal customers.

In addition, she also was the proud co-owner of Tri-State Distributing, PeKay's TV & Appliance Store of Morehead, and Lakeside Mobile Home Sales in Polksville, Ky.

Paulette enjoyed taking pride in her home and her family, as well as dedicating much of her life to gardening and canning, which she loved very much, but her absolute favorite above all was, working in her green beans which were legendary to all the people that have enjoyed them for decades at family reunions, for sending condolences to many friends and families in the community, as well as a loyal supporter of Shriner's and Masonic events and local community fundraising.

Paulette was devoted to her family and everything she did was for them, always putting their needs above her own and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with treats and surprises with each visit.

Paulette loved coupons and finding a bargain so much that it became one of her favorite things to do and loved telling her friends and family how much she saved, eventually earning the affectionate nickname "the coupon lady".  Kroger was her favorite place to shop, and she made many friends over the years and truly looked forward to seeing everyone on each trip she made.  That's how she spent her last two weeks of good.  Making her list and gathering her coupons she headed to Kroger every day, shopping for everything she could anticipate that her family would need soon with her leaving and seeing her friends again.

Her love for us was profound, the void she left is immeasurable and we will be forever missing her. She was our very special Lady.
