Paula Kaye Brown McCoy, age 52, of Whispering Pines, Clearfield, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026, at her residence.

Born February 5, 1974, in Lexington, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Betty Jo Adkins Brown of Winchester, Kentucky, and the late Laverne Brown, Sr., who passed away March 3, 2024.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Desiree Meadows Peless and Aaron Peless of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; one son, John McCoy and Cheyenne Chandler of Hillsboro, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Luke, Emma, and Elijah McCoy of Hillsboro, Ohio.

Others to cherish her memory include one sister, Eva Gamble and husband Mike of Winchester; two brothers, Laverne Brown, Jr. and wife Betty Lou of Morehead, and Jerry Brown of Clearfield; one nephew, Josh Brown of Morehead, other relatives and dear friends.

Paula was a homemaker who lovingly cared for her home and family. She had a compassionate heart and a natural gift for caring for others, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She also had a special love for animals, especially Maverick, her longtime Husky, who brought her much joy and companionship. Affectionately known by her family as “Doctor Doolittle,” Paula had a tender heart for all creatures and often rescued animals, lovingly nursing them back to health. Her kindness, compassion, and love for both people and animals were an important part of who she was and will remain a cherished part of how she is remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Elijah Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Visitation for Paula Kaye Brown McCoy will be from 12 noon until the service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
