Obituary

Paul V. Hall 'PV', 93, of North Maple Street, Mercer, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Sharon Regional Hospital in Sharon, PA. Paul was born on March 30, 1923, in Morehead, KY, to the late Bethel G. and Leafie McClain Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul V. Hall II; a brother, Murvel Hall; a sister, Oleta Hall Marshall; and brothers-in-law, James 'Red' Marshall and Billy Joe Hall. Paul is survived by his wife, Janice Edgreen Hall, whom he married on December 13, 1952; a daughter, Dr. Cynthia (David) Portman of Southern Shores, NC; a son, James Hall at home; and a sister, Joyce Hall of Mt. Sterling, KY. Paul 'Poppie' loved spending time with his three grandsons: Christopher (Emilia), Jonathan, and Jayson Portman; his three great-grandchildren Adam, Adriana, and Adalena, and special friend Anna Kelly. Paul graduated from Morehead High School in 1943 and served in the US Army after WW II and during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company for thirty-six years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball games. He loved to dance and listen to the big band sounds of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mercer, PA. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, KY from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow with the Rev. Ben Furman officiating. Mr. Hall will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead, KY with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. A memorial service will be held in Mercer, PA on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
