Paul Pettit, age 79, of Derby Lane, Morehead, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born October 10, 1944, in Peebles, Ohio, he was a son of the late David "Hoppy" and Bearl Haney Pettit. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Mae Tackett Pettit in 2005; one daughter, Amy Lynn Pettit; three brothers, Junior Pettit, Wayne Pettit and Gary Pettit; and two sisters, Patty Mynhier and Kathleen Staton.
He is survived by five daughters, Pauletta and Ricky Keeton of West Liberty, Norene Pettit of Morehead, Angie and JK LeMay of Morehead, Melissa and Stephen Thompson of Owingsville, and Becky and Wayne Fraley of Morehead; grandchildren, Brandon Keeton, Darren Keeton, Heather Dawn Hoskins, Ashley Nicole Hale, JK Paul LeMay, Sonya Meade, Dalton Richards, Dylan Richards, Bryice Richards, Keith Richards, Isabella Richards; and many great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother, Gene Pettit of Morehead; one sister, Judith and Mike Terry of Morehead; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Paul was a self-employed logger, farmer and a former Homer Gregory Lumber Company employee. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, deer hunting, fishing and being in the great outdoors. He was a member of Charity Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed going to church and attending other church activities. Paul will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Robert Kidd and Pastor Bobby Tackett officiating. Burial will follow at New Alfrey Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Dalton Richards, JK Paul LeMay, Landon Hale, Caleb Meade, Darren Keeton, Tony Pettit, Blake Pettit, and Toby Pettit.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
