Obituary

Patty Sue (Knipp) Foschi passed away on June 26, 2026, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL with her daughter holding her hand.

Patty Sue was born on September 9, 1943, in Enterprise, Kentucky, to Arthur and Ruby (Davis) Knipp. She possessed an adventurous spirit throughout her life. Although she loved beautiful things, she was a tomboy at heart. As a child, she cherished the outdoors and often reminisced about playing with her brothers, catching lizards, and sitting in awe as trains passed in front of the family home, wondering about the passengers and the places they were traveling. Memories of her grandparents' home always brought a smile to her face, and she frequently spoke with fondness of her mother's cornbread and beans, carrying with her a lifelong yearning for the place she called home.

At a young age, Patty left Kentucky to begin a family of her own. Through her husband's career, the family relocated first to Bremerton, Washington, and later settled in the suburbs of Chicago, where she spent the remainder of her life. Patty dedicated herself to raising a large family while working tirelessly throughout the years. She was employed by Johns Manville, Johnson & Johnson, and later Ecolab, where she retired after many years of faithful service.

More than anything, Patty led by example. She instilled in her children the values of hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had a remarkable artistic talent and enjoyed sketching both well-known public figures and loved ones. One of her most treasured works was a portrait of Mother Teresa. She also loved horseback riding and often shared fond memories of riding her grandfather Buddy Knipp's faithful horse, Old John.

As the years passed, Patty found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. She loved cooking for those she loved—especially her famous biscuits and gravy—participating in Bible studies, solving Sudoku puzzles, and caring for her grandsons' beloved pets, affectionately referring to them as "her critters." Even in her later years, she never lost her adventurous spirit, dreaming of one day learning to fly an airplane and visiting England.

Patty Sue is survived by her children Tim (Alexis) Kiser, William (Kim) Kiser, Mark (Marilu) Kiser, Jim Quigley, Deana (Kurt) Plotner and Brianne Foschi (Raymond)Flink and son in law (bonus son) Frank Castillo. Her grandchildren: Tim (Carrie) Hill, Jessica Kiser, Krista (Ellie) Sauter, Patrick (Brielle) Salyer, Benjamin (Jennifer) Salyer, Frank (Atalie) Castillo, Stephanie (Nathan) Butler, Alexandria Quigley, Olivia (Jake) Shoffner, Antonio Castillo, Devin Cross, Kalin Plotner, Terry Plotner, Vincent Flink, Faith Kiser, and Frankie Flink. Other survivors include 20 great grandchildren and siblings Larry (Kathy) Knipp and Sharon (Mitchell) Patton; special friends Donna Knibbe, Mary Stephens, Rhonda Esparza; bonus daughters, Nancy Wilkey and Mia Giovanazzi; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Patty was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Teresa Lynn Castillo; cherished first born grandson, David Hill; her parents, Arthur and Ruby (Davis) Knipp; siblings: Joan "Earline" (Curt) Flannery, Daniel (Loberta) Knipp, Frank (Betty) Knipp, and Ernest (Judy) Knipp as well as one of her brothers in Christ Dwayne (Sandy) Baucum and sister in Christ Karen Davis.
