Obituary

Pastor Harry Gay, age 84, of Rodburn Hollow Road, Morehead, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born June 4, 1939, in Norman Park, Georgia, he was the son of the late Abel Gay and Grace Hill Gay. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldridge Hill and Abel "Bud" Gay; two sisters, Oneta Castleberry and Lillie Mae Pye; one granddaughter, Savannah Kelley; and a very special brother-in-law, Jimmie Kiser.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Georgia Kiser Gay, whom he married February 12, 1966; one son, Leonard Gay of Morehead; two daughters, Teresa James and husband John of New Castle, Delaware, and Sherry Kelley and husband Lee of Morehead; one brother, Gerald Gay and wife Jeri of Irvington, Alabama; one sister, Donna Marie Brown of Thomasville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Leandra Kelley, Travis Kelley, Jessica Engbers, and Josh James; a special friend to the family, Louise Strange of Clearfield; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, including his church family, and many friends.

Harry became a faithful member of The Church of God at Rodburn in 1975; he served as chairman of the board of directors, deacon, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. He became Pastor in 2009 and was preaching God's word until his passing.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union # 181. He was an active member of the Local Union and enjoyed his years as a construction worker.  Later, he was a carrier for the Lexington Hearld-Leader for many years. Harry enjoyed attending church, reading his Bible, doing mechanical work, talking on the phone, playing games with his family, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.  Harry will be greatly missed for his love and kindness to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Jerry Arbaugh and Brother Paul Prinkey officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Kiser Cemetery on Route 986 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
