Owen Cox, age 76, of Lafayette Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born September 8, 1931, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Richard Henry and Ava Baldridge Cox. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Wesley, and Charles Cox, and two sisters, Olive Cant and Virginia Weise. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Withrow Cox; one daughter, Anita Hall and one son, Wayne Cox, both of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Kristi Thomas, Keri Welch, Phillip Cox, Ryan Cox, Colby Cox, Caleb Cox; and four great grandchildren, Katlyn Strunk, Stevie Thomas, Stella Welch, and Jaycee Spencer. Also surviving are one brother, Allen Cox of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Rae Fletcher of Arizona. He was retired from Cox Monument Company and had been a United Baptist minister for many years. Owen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a loyal friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Zora Adkins, Bro. Clayton Marshall, Edler Douglas Ward, and Elder Eury Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Cemetery. Pallbearers: Phillip Cox, Ryan Cox, Steve Thomas, Kris Welch, Darold Bailey, J. R. Bowling, David Bowling, and Jeremy Withrow. Honorary pallbearers: Stanley Messer, Othar Messer, Junior Messer, Rick Messer, and Charlie Messer.
