Oval Bingham Hall, 97, of N. Wilson Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born December 27, 1913, in Floyd County, Kentucky, Oval was the only child of Clabe and Margaret Lee Wells Bingham. Her husband, Dr. Palmer L. Hall, whom she married in 1940, passed away October 23, 1987. Mrs. Hall is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Scott Lapish of North Garrard County, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Chris (Nissa) Hill and Ryan (Donna) Hill, all of North Garrard County, Kentucky, McGee (Emily) Lapish of Charlotte, North Carolina, Minda Lapish (John) Zambenini of Lexington, Kentucky; and four great grandchildren, Addison Hill and Jack, Sam, and Charlie Lapish. Oval received a B.S. Degree in Music and an M.S. Degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky. She also completed additional graduate classes at Morehead State University. Mrs. Hall-s teaching experiences included public school music, band director and college teaching in Kentucky and West Virginia. She was a teacher in Floyd County for several years and then at University Breckinridge School when she and Dr. Hall moved to Morehead in 1956. For several years, she was also a supervising teacher at University Breckinridge. She retired from Morehead State University in 1975. Outside the teaching profession, Mrs. Hall was involved in church activities, having served as church organist, choir director, choir member, Sunday school teacher. She was a longtime member of the Morehead United Methodist Church. Additionally, Mrs. Hall was active in professional and civic organizations. She was pianist for the Morehead Kiwanis Club a number of years, served as chair of American Home and Finance, Kentucky Federation of Women-s Clubs, was a member of the University Woman-s Club, held various offices in the Morehead Woman-s Club and was currently an Honorary Member, and had been a volunteer at St. Claire Medical Center and Life Care Center. She was a former member of the National Education Association, Kentucky Education Association and Kentucky Music Education Association. She was a charter member of Gamma Epsilon of Sigma Alpha Iota, honorary music fraternity at Morehead State University. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the Morehead United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Black officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers: Chris Hill, Ryan Hill, McGee Lapish, John Zambenini, Jason Adkins, and David Breeze. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the MSU Foundation, Breckinridge Scholarship Endowment, Palmer Development House, Morehead, KY 40351 Visitation: Monday, December 12, 2011, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Northcutt & Son Funeral: Tuesday, December 13, 2011, 11 a.m., United Methodist Church Interment: Lee Cemetery
