Oshel Glen
Johnson
Apr 7, 1944 — Oct 22, 2019
Oshel Glen Johnson, age 75, of Soldier, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Pinnacle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Born April 7, 1944, in Bangor, KY, he was a son of the late Harve Johnson and Zada Bair Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Loverne Johnson and Delbert Johnson, and two sisters, Judy Ramp and Willadean Blevins.
Oshel was a pillar in his community and was known and loved by many. He was always willing to help his friends and community and faithfully attended the Haldeman Church of God. Oshel had a contagious smile and a certain degree of feistiness that made him one of a kind. His presence would light up a room.
Oshel was an avid carpenter and worked for many years building homes. He enjoyed creating unique woodworking projects for family and friends, and his legacy will live on in the priceless woodworking heirlooms that he has shared. Oshel was a proud U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran who loved God and his country.
He loved the outdoors and fishing and spending time with family and friends were among his favorite things. He was very proud of his grandchildren, children, and their spouses.
Oshel leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Polly Pelfrey Johnson, whom he married April 9, 1966; three children and their spouses whom he also considered his own children, Christopher (Sherry) Johnson of Soldier, Crystal (Brian) Branham, and Kathy (Scott) Bledsoe, all of Olive Hill; three grandchildren, Bella, Mikey and Ryan; two sisters, Ann Mocabee and Donna Bradley, both of Soldier; and a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
This world was blessed to have a wonderful man like Oshel. His faith and love of God gives us assurance that he's rejoicing with Jesus.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery in Soldier with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: Scott Bledsoe, Brian Branham, Jarrod Richardson, Jerry Johnson, Billy Johnson, and Sheldon Mocabee.
