Orville John Carter, Jr., age 79, of Calvert Branch, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. Born November 29, 1931, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Orville and Thelma Beair Carter. He is survived by one son, Dr. Alan Bruce Carter and his wife Christy of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters, Juanita Crawford and Carol Johnson, both of Morehead, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Sydney Carter and Riley Carter. Junior served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a retired plumber and carpenter for Mabry Construction. He was member of Elliottville Baptist Church, where he served as trustee and sang in the choir. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Willard Calvert, Tommy Calvert, Sean Johnson, Wendell Johnson, James Engle, and Aaron Roberts. Visitation is from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
