Orbie Charles Ramey, age 87, of Sheridan Drive, Morehead, KY, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at his residence.

Born July 1, 1936, at Bangor, KY, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Vernon and Estella Foster Ramey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Ramey; one sister, Laxie Ramey Blankenship; and his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley Faye Trent Ramey, who passed away November 22, 2017.

Orbie is survived by four sons, Eric (Georgi) Ramey of Morehead, KY, Larry (Paula) Ramey of Wakeman, Ohio, Dale (JoAnn) Kegley of Guyandotte, West Virginia, and Carlos (Tracy) Kegley of Taylorsville, KY; three daughters, Belinda (Dennis) Beamon, Sharon Pernell, and Melanie Reffitt, all of Morehead, KY; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Other survivors include two brothers, Paul (Mary) Ramey of Fisherville, KY, and Otis Ramey of Sheffield, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Orbie retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio, with 22 years of employment.  Following his retirement, he was a self-employed carpenter and logger. He also enjoyed being a "handyman" and mowed several yards.

Orbie enjoyed music and was known for writing songs, singing, and playing his guitar, one of his favorite traits. A people person, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling jokes, and making memories. He will be sadly missed and always remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfield Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
