Opal Jeanetta Reynolds Goodan, age 94, of Goodan Creek, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Carter Nursing and Rehab in Grayson, Kentucky. Born April 10, 1918, in Carter County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Ann Lowe Reynolds. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Clova Purnell, and four brothers, Earl, Owen, Jettie, and Burlis Reynolds. Opal's husband, Richard August 'Bill' Goodan, whom she married December 24, 1935, passed away May 3, 1989, and four daughters, Naomi Hyatt, Sylvia Sue Goodan, Linda Mae Goodan, and Mary Gay Crum also preceded their parents in death. Mrs. Goodan is survived by five sons, Herbert Goodan of Elliottville, Kentucky, Glennis Goodan and wife Donna of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Billy Ray Goodan and wife Mary Kay of Morehead, Kentucky, Donnie Goodan and wife Joann of Dayton, Ohio, and Dale Goodan of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Nina Porter of North Carolina, and Loretta Stevens and husband Bill of Yorktown, Indiana; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Ray Reynolds of Mansfield, Oho, June Reynolds of Winchester, Ohio, and Lloyd Reynolds of Olive Hill, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. Opal enjoyed tending her flowers, gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, reading the Bible and going to church. A fan of nature and outdoors, she enjoyed her cats and feeding the birds. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Home was where her heart was. . .she loved her home. She also loved her church, Fraley Chapel Church of God, where she was a longtime member. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Jacobs Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky. Visitation: Saturday, January 5, 2013, after 2 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, January 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. Interment: Jacobs Cemetery, Greenbriar Rd, Carter Co.
