Obituary

Opal Yuvonne Nickell Sloan, age 82, of Brinegar Road, Olive Hill, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born December 21, 1933, at Ordinary, Kentucky, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Allie and Stella Kiser Nickell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Dehart and Eula Christy, and two brothers, Carl Kiser and Joe Lewis. Yuvonne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tommy Sloan; one daughter, Darlene Sue Keeton and husband Larry of Olive Hill; one son, Donald Joe Sloan and wife Pamela of Olive Hill; three grandchildren, Victoria Byers, Phillip Keeton, and Ronnie Sloan; and two great grandchildren, Trevor Keeton and Michaela Byers; and one sister, Linda Dehart of Duarte, California. Yvonne was a homemaker and of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ faith. She enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening and her flowers. She loved her family and especially enjoyed being with the grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2016, at the Sloan Family Cemetery on Brinegar Road. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
