Garnette Opal Lambert Black, age 94, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, who resided at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehab in Owingsville for the past few years, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born March 27, 1919, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Rachel Mauk Lambert. Her parents and two sisters, Jewel Stoll and Lela Craig, preceded her in death. On April 11, 1936, Opal was united in marriage to Berlin Black, who passed away October 5, 1986. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirlene Black on September 20, 1987, and three grandchildren, Larry Joe Daniels, Darrell Gene Mabry, and Tonya Black. Mrs. Black is survived by six children, Darlene Spence of Clearfield, Edith Mabry of Brookville, Ohio, Geneva Clinger of Ashland, Joyce Caskey of Clearfield, Berlin Black, Jr. of Clearfield, and Mary Jewel Eversberg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 40 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Black was a homemaker and Christian. She was a member of the Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed singing hymns and praising the Lord. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, enjoyed cooking and working in her flowers, and most of all wanted to instill Christian values in her family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Jim Hamm and Brother Herbert D. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the McClain Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
