Obituary for Tommy Sloan

Tommy Sloan, age 92, of Brinegar Road, Olive Hill, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Born November 26, 1925, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Woodrow and Susie Fraley Sloan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Sloan and Buddy Sloan, and five sisters, Bertha Kiser, Vada Lowe, Myrtle Clark, Ollie Sparks, and infant Annie Sloan

Tommy’s wife of 65 years, Opal Yuvonne Nickell Sloan, passed away January 9, 2016.

He is survived by one daughter, Darlene Sue Keeton and husband Larry of Olive Hill; one son, Donald Joe Sloan and wife Pamela of Olive Hill; three grandchildren, Victoria Byers, Phillip Keeton, and Ronnie Sloan; two great grandchildren, Trevor Keeton and Michaela Byers; and one brother, Oscar Sloan of Olive Hill.

Tommy had been a clay miner and sawmill operator and a former employee of Harbison Walker Refractories in Carter County. He loved people and being with family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Sloan Family Cemetery on Brinegar Road.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
