Norman Kenneth Wallace, age 74, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born October 12, 1939, in Rowan County, Norman was a son of the late Henry Cleveland Wallace and Elizabeth Jane Jones Wallace. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Theodore, Charles, Austin, Cleve Jr., James, Homer, and Harold Wallace, and three sisters, Sadie Johnson, Bertha Muche, and Vada Green. He is survived by his wife, Linda Jones Wallace, whom he married May 4, 1963; one son, Brian Wallace and wife Betty Jo of Clearfield; one daughter, Marsha Wallace of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Tara Utterback, Andrea Wallace, and Ian Wallace; and four great grandchildren, Trevor, Justin, Destiny, and McKinsey Utterback. Other survivors include one brother, Clinton Wallace of Clearfield; special niece, Barbara Ward who was like a sister to him; several nieces, nephews and extended family members; and his special dog, Lucy Liu. Norman served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era, managed the Red Head Oil Service Station, and was a route salesman for Dr. Pepper. He graduated from Rowan County High School and attended Morehead State University, majoring in robotics. He was active in the Rowan County Democratic Party for 40 years. Norman played the mandolin with the Bluegrass group, 'The Soul Searchers.' An accomplished mandolin player, Norman also enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music and watching college basketball, especially the Louisville Cardinals. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher and Bro. Dale Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Masonic services to be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday by Phelps Masonic Lodge No. 482. Visitation: Saturday, May 31, 2014, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, June 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
