Nelda Marie Murphy Pelfrey, age 83, of Camargo-Levee Road, Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owingsville, Kentucky. She was born March 26, 1927, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Otis D. Murphy of Ezel, Kentucky, and Sally Congleton Murphy of Camargo, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one step grandson, Stephen Congleton. Nelda-s husband of 48 years, Kendel C. Pelfrey, preceded her in death on April 11, 2010. She is survived by one son, Kerry (Melanie) Pelfrey of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; one stepson, Kenny Wayne (Connie) Pelfrey of Van Lear, Kentucky; two stepdaughters, Diana (Bill) Miller of Richmond, Kentucky, and Jeannie (Rolfe) Kruckas of Lexington, Kentucky; one grandson, Tyler Clay Pelfrey; five step grandchildren, Jaylena Miller, Scott Congelton, Tasha Stewart, Benjamin Congleton, and Jason Pelfrey; and eight step great grandchildren. Mrs. Pelfrey was a retired bookkeeper for the Camargo Bank, Monarch Milling Company, and Mary Chiles Hospital. She was an honorable Kentucky Colonel and member of the Camargo First Church of God and Camargo United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Machpelah Cemetery with the Rev. Stanley Hutchinson officiating. Pallbearers will be Rolfe Kruckas, Jason Pelfrey, James Hendrix, Tyler Pelfrey, Scotty Congleton, and Ben Congleton.
