Obituary

Murvil Stevens, age 78, of Haldeman Road, Morehead, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 30, 1947, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Tom Stevens and Nora Sparkman Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, an infant, Tom Stevens, Jr., Bobbie Thurman Stevens, and Gary Wayne Stevens; and four sisters, an infant, Margie Byerly, Lily Mae Hamm, and Shelby Edwards.

Murvil is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Glenna Sue Kelly Stevens, whom he married October 6, 1971; two children, Kevin (Monica) Stevens of Soldier and Donna Stevens Thompson of Morehead; two special grandchildren, Austin (Lakota) Stevens and Summer Stevens; and one great-granddaughter, Everleigh Stevens.

Also surviving are two sisters, Deloris Stevens and Juanita Moore, both of Morehead; a host of nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Murvil was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He formerly worked for J. C. Wells Lumber Company in Morehead and as a service station attendant while living in Mansfield, Ohio. He was a member of the East End Church of God.

Murvil enjoyed the outdoors and liked raising a garden, woodworking, carpentry, and spending time with his family. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were very special to him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Larry Hamm officiating. Immediately following the service, Morehead American Legion Post 126 will present full military honors at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Stevens Family Cemetery, 375 Haldeman Road, Morehead.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Stevens, Austin Stevens, Robert Puckett, Charles Mocabee, Donnie Stevens, and Nathan Eldridge.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
