Obituary

Murvel Eugene -Skeeter- McClure, age 84, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born September 5, 1923, at Paragon in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Lynn Boyd and Martha Della Day McClure. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Butler. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Second Class from 1942-46 and was awarded the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was employed at Harold White Lumber Company and various other lumber companies for more than 46 years. -Skeeter- was an intense competitor who thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Morehead-Rowan County Senior Games and State Senior Games. He won numerous medals in various track and field events at both the local and state levels and particularly enjoyed traveling across the state to the these competitions. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Pete Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Nick Caudill, Ray White, Milton Hamilton, Dallas Fraley, Darrell Hamilton, and Harold White. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Thursday, January 3, 2008, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Friday, January 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. Interment: Clearfield Cemetery
