Morten Dempsey Lawhorn, age 77, of Smithville, Tennessee, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008, at his residence. He was born January 20, 1931, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Carlos Vinson and Virginia Bell Smith Lawhorn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Lawhorn. Mr. Lawhorn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audress Ivy Oakley Lawhorn, whom he married May 26, 1954; two sons, Herbert (Brenda) Wilson and Kevin (Dianne) Lawhorn both of Smithville, Tennessee; two daughters, Sharon (Kenneth) Cline and Elise A. Flannery both of Smithville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Kenneth Lawhorn and Ralph Lawhorn, both of Mansfield, Ohio, and three sisters, Elberta Wenner of Aurora, Colorado, and Madge George and Shirley Williams, both of Smithville, Tennessee. Morten was a machinist for the CMP Corporation. He enjoyed hunting and listening to and playing country music. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers and Brother Mitch Roe officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakley & Fultz Cemetery on Open Fork Road in Haldeman. Pallbearers will be Jason Cline, Kenny Cline, Jimmy Williams, Grant Fultz, David Fultz, and Tony Fultz. Visitation is after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Visitation: Thursday, November 6, 2008,after 4 p.m. Funeral: Friday, November 7, 2008, at 1 p.m. Interment: Oakley & Fultz Cemetery
