Mitchell Ray Layne Parish, age 52, of Christian Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, Kentucky, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born September 17, 1957, in Carter County, Kentucky, he was the son of Betty Layne Davis of Clearfield, Kentucky, and the late Chalmer Parish. Mitchell is survived by the mother of his children, Debra Basford Layne of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Mitchell Ray Layne, Jr. and wife Crystal of Farmers, Kentucky; one daughter, Veronica Jean Elswick of Carter County, Kentucky; five sisters, Judith Cooper, Rosie Bates, Mary Stacy, all of Morehead, Kentucky and Kimberly Wallace, Jamie Wallace, both of Clearfield, Kentucky; and 3 grandchildren, Jordan Layne, Matthew Layne and Lani Elswick. Mitchell was a former Hinkle Construction Company mowing crew employee. He loved riding horses and working on vehicles. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Puckett, Steve Carpenter, Joe Kline, Donald Wayne Holbrook, Ronnie Fraley, Dustin Oliver and Dennis Midkiff.
