Rev. Michael E. "Mike" Pennington, age 75, of Oak Dale Drive, Clearfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at UK St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born May 30, 1949, in Boyd County, he was a son of the late William "Bill" Pennington and Margaret "Margie" Fields Pennington Davidson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Elbert "Bert" Davidson, and his maternal grandparents, Willard Arthur Fields and Margaret Posey Fields who assisted in his rearing.
His devoted wife of nearly 45 years, Charlotte Ann Darnell Pennington, whom he wed December 27, 1976, went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2020.
Mike is survived by his loving daughter, Andrea Hope Pennington of Clearfield; two special cousins, Allison Ward and Dreama Ward, both of Lexington; four cousins that were like siblings, Ed Horne of North Carolins, Jim Horne of Tennessee, and Gary Horne and Pamela Horne Hall, both of Ashland; a caring and dedicated caregiver, Roberta Curtis of Morehead; other relatives; dear friends; and church family.
He retired from the Kentucky State Board of Education with several years of service. Bro. Mike served as pastor at several churches including Pleasant Valley First Church of God in Nicholas County, Fountain Park First Church of God in Richmond, Polksville First Church of God, Midland First Church of God, and Youngs Valley Community First Church of God, all in Bath County. He was a former insurance agent in Nicholas County and Bath County and a former employee at Morehead State University. He received his master's degree from Morehead State University.
In addition to being a devout Christian who led by example, Bro. Mike was a reliable and dedicated husband, father, and friend. Bro. Mike will be greatly missed by family and many others whose lives were greatly influenced by his earthly journey.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Ben Hargis and Pastor Ben Furman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Jerry Scruggs, Will Cox, Paul Cox, Gary Horne, Jimmy Horne, Eddy Horne, John Northcutt, Kevin Cummins, Andrew Hall, and Jim Tom Trent.
