Meredith Fultz Messer, age 72, of US 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born September 18, 1937, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Edith Clark Fultz. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Fultz, Jr., and Donald Ray Fultz, and one sister, Dollie Maze. Her husband, Billy Messer, preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Messer is survived by one son, Larry Messer and companion Connie Burton of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Arlene Layne and husband Dewayne of Morehead, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and sisters-in-law, Buster and Mavis Fultz of Selma, Indiana, Carl -Cob- and Jewell Fultz of Soldier, Kentucky, Dana and Karen Fultz of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Patty and Johnny Glover of Morehead, Kentucky, Virginia and Robert Blevins of Soldier, Kentucky, and Joyce Clay of Morehead, Kentucky. Other survivors include a special companion, Larry Burton, and two stepchildren, Joshua Burton of Galion, Ohio, and Samantha Wright of West Liberty, Kentucky. Mrs. Messer was a homemaker and member of the Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Glover and Rev. Larry Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Fultz Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Dewayne May, Bill Messer, Wayne Norris, Terry Henderson, Timmy Puckett, and Jeff Adams. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
