Melissa Raye Gregory Thomas, age 44, of Conyers Way, Morehead, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after a sudden illness.

She was born January 2, 1978, in Lexington, and is the daughter of Wilburn Ray Gregory and Pamela Mae Goodman Gregory of Morehead.

In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her husband of 25 years, Scott Thomas, whom she married October 6, 1996; two sons, Jesse Thomas (Kitiara Richardson), Kaleb Thomas (Halee Rae Evans); and one daughter, Kaitlynd Thomas, all of Morehead.

Other survivors include one brother, Brian Stephens (Robin) of Morehead; one sister, April Carreon of Amarillo, Texas; a special nephew, Randy Leadingham, Jr.; as well as other nieces, nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She graduated from Maysville – Rowan Vocational Technical College with an associate's degree in medical billing. She was currently an Office Support Assistant, II for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and an employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Melissa was a very devoted wife. Her family was her greatest passion – they were her world.  Her smile would light up a room, her laugh was contagious, and she had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed crafting, shopping with her daughter, sitting around the fire pit, preparing family dinners, and especially spending time with family. Melissa will never be forgotten. She will forever be loved, missed and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ellen Thomas, and a brother-in-law, Jason Thomas.

A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Clifford Tippy Price officiating.  Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Kaleb Thomas, Jesse Thomas, Dillon Thomas, Jacob Horton, Randy Leadingham, and Kyland Carreon.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
