Melissa Denise Gilliam Sabon, age 40, of Trent Ridge, Morehead, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born February 25, 1973, in Morehead, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Donna Hall Gilliam. Melissa is survived by her husband, Fred Sabon; two daughters, Amy and Emily Sabon, both at home; two step children, Matthew and Kayla Sabon, both at home; two brothers, Wendell Gilliam and George Gilliam, both of Morehead; one sister, Linda Gilliam of Lexington; and one grandson, Payton Sabon. Melissa was a Morehead State University graduate earning a bachelor's degree in social work. She was a former Aramark employee for Morehead State University and left her position 2 1/2 years ago after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She enjoyed reading, writing, listening to music, and taking care of her family. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
