Maxine Ruth Rose Harris, 78, of Elliott County, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, September 11, 2026, in Morehead at UK St. Claire surrounded by family.
Born on November 23, 1947, in Elliott County, Kentucky, to Bruce and Gladys Holbrook Rose, Maxine lived a life centered on the people she loved most. She never cared for material things, choosing instead to place her family and loved one at the heart of her life. A woman of few complaints and immense strength, she was known for the quiet steadiness she brought to those around her. Her home was always open, and her heart was always full.
Maxine’s life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep devotion to family. Those who knew her will remember the warmth she extended so freely and the comfort of her presence. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Estill Harris, who departed this life on June 3, 2019; her infant son, Tracy Harris; her brothers, Talmadge Rose, Jake Rose, Jeff Rose, John Rose and infant brother, Jessa Rose; and her sister, Elma Rose.
She is survived by her sons, Tim Harris and his wife, Angie Harris, and Tony Harris, all of Elliott County; and by her brothers, Jim Rose of Louisville, Ohio, Larry Rose and Bruce Rose, Jr., both of Elliott County; and a host of extended family.
Maxine will be remembered for the strength with which she lived, the love she gave, and the welcome she offered so generously to others. Her memory will remain a lasting comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brian Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery on P Sparks Road in Elliott County.
Pallbearers will be Jonathon Harris, Tyler Kiser, Herman Conn, Glendon Harris, and Levon Bear.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
