Obituary

Maxine Black Collins, age 83, of Clearfield Hill, Clearfield, Kentucky, was born July 31, 1926, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehab in Owingsville, Kentucky. Maxine is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold Collins, whom she wed December 21, 1943; one daughter, Linda Gagnon and her husband Henri of Westland, Michigan; one granddaughter, Deanna Jorgensen and her husband John of Williamsburg, Michigan; one grandson, Jason Gagnon of Garden City, Michigan; one great granddaughter; one great grandson; one brother-in-law, Ray Collins of Clearfield, Kentucky, and many other relatives and friends. A daughter, Valetta Kay Collins, preceded her in death on March 31, 2007. Maxine was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of service in the area. She was a Postmaster at Farmers and a supervisor at other post offices including Elliottville, Morehead, Clearfield, and Salt Lick. She was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary McQuain and the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: David Dillon, J. B. Blakeman, Scott Collins, Charles McIntosh, Ted Trent, Art Litton, and Jack Carter. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Tuesday, January 5, 2010, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, January 6, at 11 a.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
