Obituary

Rev. Max Molihan, age 83, of Homestead Drive, Stanton, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born March 5, 1940, in McArthur, Ohio, to Olis Molihan and Florence Napper Molihan Blackford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Scott Molihan; one grandson, Timothy Allen Rednour; two brothers, Delford and John Molihan; and three sisters, Emma Haburn, Kate Beiers, and Daisy Molihan.

Max is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Allen Molihan, whom he mararied October 12, 1960; three children, Diana Molihan, Treasa Sparks (Mike), and Anthony Molihan (Lori); eleven grandchildren, Dosha Flowers, Maranda Dunn, Josh Holland, Alex Feck, Evan, Caeden, Chase and Carlee Molihan, Megan and Daniel Boswell and John Sparks along with 15 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Molihan (Ruth), and 2 sisters, Martha Hoover and Peggy Myers, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Max was a veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1970.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, Good Conduct Medal w/2*, Combat Action Ribbon, RVN Cross of Gallantry w/palm & frame, and Pistol Expert Badge.  He was a pastor of the First Church of God for 50 years in several churches including Harg First Church of God in Estill County, Kentucky, Bowman Street First Church of God in Mansfield, Ohio, Stanton First Church of God in Stanton, Kentucky, and Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God in Clearfield, Kentucky.  He attended the Christian Fellowship Church of God and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Visitation and services will be held at Wells Funeral Home, 777 W. College Avenue, Stanton, KY 40380. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a service will be on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. officiated by Brother Anthony Molihan, Brother Harold Kelly, and Brother Vernon Gross. Burial with military honors will follow in Veterans Cemetery in Stanton.

Pallbearers will be Evan Molihan, Chase Molihan, Sid Ramey, Mike Sparks, Ross Poe, Josh Holland, Daniel Boswell, and Anthony Molihan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351, from Wells Funeral Home, Stanton.
