Mavis Adkins Fannin, age 85, of Butternut Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born September 12, 1931, in Elliott County, she was the daughter of the late Lonzie and Arlie Lewis Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland and Curt Adkins; two sisters, Betty Henderson and Carol Woodham; and a grandson, James Brent Conn. Mrs. Fannin is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Ann Estep of Morehead; two grandchildren, Tiffany Ann (Johnny) Casey of Clinton, Tennessee, and Heather Adkins of Morehead; nine great grandchildren, Kaila Smith-Casey, Ashley Smith-Casey, Breanna Conn, Aidan Barker, Ayden Adkins, Alexis Adkins, Landon Adkins, Ethan Adkins, and Emma Adkins; one great-great granddaughter, Aubree McGlamery; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special friend, Reva Thompson. Mavis retired as secretary from Cowden Manufacturing Company after 20 years of service and later worked as a secretary for the unemployment office in Morehead for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, crocheting, and sewing. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Graveside services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at New Alfrey Cemetery with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead
