Mary Marguerite Thompson Messer, age 92, of Messer Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Kingsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ashland.

Born October 6, 1928, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie C. Thompson and Eva Lewis Thompson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Messer on June 26, 2007, and two brothers, James Virgil Thompson and John Robert Thompson.

Mrs. Messer is survived by one son, Keith (Lorene) Messer; one daughter, Jennifer (Bill) Jones; one sister, Susie Cassidy, all of Morehead; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and was a former employee of Layne's Department Store and Judy's Clothing Store. Mary enjoyed working puzzles, being outdoors, bird watching, traveling, tending to her flowers, keeping a daily journal, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating.  Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery on Messer Road.

Pallbearers: Jackie Thomas, Tim Thompson, Jamie Thompson, Bobby Brown, Josh Brown, and Jackie Middleton.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

COVID-19 mandates will be observed including masks and social distancing.
