Mary Belle Rose Day, age 100, of Old Midland Trail, Salt Lick, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the home of her great grandson Derek and Kali Russell.
She was born May 22, 1924, in Huntington, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Jonas Rose. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bill "Fletcher" Day; a grandson, David Russell; one brother, Brady Rose; two half-brothers, George Hill and Leroy Hill; and one half-sister, Dorothy Messer.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Pam Poston of Morehead; two grandchildren, Byrl Russell (Sue) and Leanna Russell, all of Morehead; 10 great grandchildren, Nicole Gifford (David), Amelia Adkins (Kenny), Derek Russell (Kali), Callie Perkins (Adam), Joshua Rymoff, Jacob, Jade, Jasmine, and Jonah Russell, and John Lee (Darlesia); 11 great-great grandchildren, Israel Whitt (Blake), Elisabeth, Destiny, DB, and Benjamin Gifford, Kainan, Kasen, Kamilla, and Kingston Adkins, and Makayla and Isaac Lee; one nephew, Steve Rose (Madonna); and other extended family and friends.
She retired from the Rowan County Public Library as the book mobile driver. Mary was a member of the End Time Harvest Church, where she was lovingly known by all as "Granny."
The matriarch of her family, she loved Jesus, attending church, a good cup coffee, and, especially visiting with family and friends. She was an avid dog lover and frogs held a special place in her heart. Mary touched everyone in a positive way whenever meeting her for the first time or having known her for decades. She will be lovingly remembered by all.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tracy Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Kenny Adkins, Byrl Russell, Jacob Russell, Adam Perkins, Marlon Muse, and Dave Manning.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
