Mary Plunkett, age 94, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon, Indiana. Born May 9, 1918, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Jerdan Curtis and Bertha Jane Bradshaw Cassidy. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Vanlandingham, Sr.; second husband, Charles Plunkett; daughter, Yvonne Urban-Morgan; son, Claude Vanlandingham, Jr.; and brothers, Bill Curtis, Jack Curtis, and Gene Curtis. Mrs. Plunkett is survived by one daughter, Dianna (Chris) Ferguson of Lebanon, Indiana; one stepson, Arthur Eugene (Pat) Vanlandingham of Winchester, Kentucky; grandchildren, Teresa Eck of New Ross, Indiana, Sherri (Mike) Gill of Brownsburg, Indiana, Chrissy (Brian) McNeely of Brownsburg, Indiana, Candy (Matt) Hankins of Lebanon, Indiana; Kenney (Patsy) Urban of Arizona; great grandchildren, Cody Gill, Carson Gill, Carter McNeely, Brady McNeely, all from Brownsburg, Indiana, and Grace Wiley, Emma Wiley, and Allie Hankins of Lebanon, Indiana. Other survivors include one brother, Clyde Curtis of Hillsboro, Kentucky; two sisters, Edna Jane Jent of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Okie Holt of Lebanon, Indiana, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Plunkett retired from Stewart Warner Corporation. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and taught Sunday school classes for 30 years. After she took clown lessons and became a clown, Mrs. Plunkett traveled to nursing homes to cheer people up. For her community work, she was awarded the 'Decoration of Chivalry.' The award was for church work, service to others, caring for the sick, and helping at the time of bereavement. She was also very active and held numerous offices in lodges, including the Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah-Odd Fellows Fraternity, and Amaranth. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. A devoted family member, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at Hutton Funeral Home with Lee Jent and Richard Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Hedricks Cemetery in Salt Lick, Kentucky. Pallbearers: Charles Curtis, Monty Jent, Jerry Curtis, Ray Weaver, Mike Holt, and Michael Wells.
