Mary Louise Cox, 83, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Morehead, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 after succumbing to complications of Alzheimer's. Mary Louise was born January 4, 1935 in Morehead, KY. She was predeceased by her husband Paul R. Cox, her parents Lula Mae (Jones) Johnson and Jesse F. Johnson, both of Morehead, KY; her brothers, Jesse "Tommy" Johnson and Cecil Johnson (who died in infancy) of Morehead, KY. She is survived by her three children: Don-Paul Cox, Mary "Kim" Cox and Thomas F. Cox (Kristine), all of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren: Natalie A. Bouler, of Orlando, FL, Ian Cox and Ashley Pozin of St, Petersburg, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey Bouler and Micah Pozin. Mary Louise was named "Little Miss Morehead" as a youth and was selected in Who's Who as one of America's leading baton twirlers. She performed as a majorette at Morehead State University where she graduated with B.A. and M.A. degrees in education. She taught 5th grade at Tyrone Elementary School in St. Petersburg and owned and operated The Orleans Bishop Hotel and TV Center at Jannus Landing, St. Petersburg. She was a member of First Church of God, St. Petersburg, FL and Morehead, KY. She was Past Worthy Matron of Astron Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star (now Bethlehem #169). Graveside services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at Caudill Cemetery, Stork Street, with the Rev. Ben Tackett officiating. Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead is caring for arrangements.
