Mary Evelyn Hunt McCormick

Mary Evelyn Hunt McCormick, age 57, of Colfax Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at her residence after courageously battling cancer for more than a year.

Born May 9, 1969, in Maysville, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Hunt and Mary Ethel Hamilton Hunt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Hunt and Shirley Preston.

Mary is survived by her husband of 34 years, William Leo “Billy” McCormick; one son, William Scott McCormick (Whitney) of Mt. Sterling; one daughter, Hillary Louise McCormick Blankenship of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Kara Blankenship, Noah Blankenship, and Everly McCormick; and one great-granddaughter, Claire Blankenship.

Other survivors include one brother, Kenneth Hunt of Ewing; two sisters, Susy Wills of Maysville and Tammy Stull of Frenchburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary was a homemaker and volunteered at Fleming County High School. She was a 1987 graduate of Fleming County High School. She had a deep love for animals, especially cats and dogs, and enjoyed helping on the farm, caring for her flowers, especially her favorite roses, and watching for redbirds. She loved being outdoors and was known for her outgoing personality and happy spirit.

Most of all, Mary cherished her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

At Mary’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all contributions be made payable to Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049 to assist with cremation expenses.
