Mary Lewis Hood, age 85, of Marion, Ohio, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at her residence.

Born November 14, 1940, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Christine Utterback Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Hood, who passed away on January 8, 2005, and by one brother, Adrian Lewis.

Mary is survived by her two beloved children, Shelia Hood Kelley and husband Sulu of Marion, Ohio, and Timothy Hood and wife Dawn of Morehead. She was a devoted and proud granny to BreeAnn Torres of Marion, Ohio, and Bill Caraway II of Reno, Nevada, and a loving great-granny to four special great-grandchildren: Seraiah, Levi, Ruben, and Ellie Campbell. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Delora Cooley of Douglasville, Georgia, as well as extended family and friends.

Mary dedicated 28 years of service to Morehead State University, where she was among the first employees of the ADUC Cafeteria and later served as a library assistant. She was also a successful Avon representative. Throughout her life, she held membership in several churches and most recently attended The House of Prayer. Mary truly loved people, her church family, and her community. She also adored her two special dogs, Zia and Benny, and looked forward to receiving The Morehead News.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Brother Joe Cline and Sister Robyn Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be great granddaughter, Seraiah Campbell, nephews, Ricky Lewis, Mark Lewis, Brian Hood, cousin, Steve Perry, and dear friend, Steve Sanders.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
