Mary Charles Holbrook Howard, age 69, of Perkins Street, Morehead, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

Born August 8, 1953, in West Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Holbrook and Evelyn Adkins Holbrook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny L. Howard on January 12, 2023; her son, Jeffrey C. Lykins; and two grandchildren, Hudson Z. Carpenter, and Charleston M. Carpenter.

Mary is survived by her son, Chad E. Carpenter and wife Elizabeth of Florence, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Hope L. Howard Lykins of Morehead, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Laura Stallard of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; brother, Terry L. Holbrook and wife Judy of Independence, Kentucky; sister, Sandy Shively of West Liberty, Kentucky; grandchildren, River M.F. Carpenter, Montgomery S. Carpenter, Landen B. Carpenter, Stella E. Carpenter, Evelyn G. Carpenter, Calvin E. Carpenter, and Hayle M. Lykins; and step grandchildren, Destini Sparks and Samson Stallard.  Others to cherish her memory include her extended family, her many friends from church, from MSU, and from the community.

Mary was born and raised in Morgan County and graduated from Morgan County High School.  Later she attended Morehead State University and became an employee there in her mid-twenties.  Mary spent a little more than thirty years in various roles in the College of Business at MSU and retired as an Academic Student Advisor.

Mary spoke many times of the fond memories she created at MSU and all the friends and colleagues she was so blessed to have worked with.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends but most of all she loved living life, a cup of coffee, painting her nails, shopping and volunteering at Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Cecil Ison and Rev. Saundra Nathanson officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
