Mary Jo Helland Dorsey, age 82, of Heritage Place, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at West Liberty Nursing and Rehab.

She was born September 14, 1942, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the daughter of the late Claude Helland and Eileen Elder Helland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dorsey, and her brother, Donald Helland, and his wife, Diane.

Mary is survived by one son, Joe Gagliano and his wife, Edna, of Morehead; one daughter, Tina Gagliano of Thornton, Illinois; three grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, and Luke Gagliano; two step-grandchildren, Caitlin Black and Taryn Fannin; and two step-great-grandchildren, Elsie Black and Jeshurun Black. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mary honorably served her country in the U.S. Air Force.  She worked for many years as a restaurant manager in Chicago, Illinois, and later was employed at the Cracker Barrel in Morehead when it first opened. She especially enjoyed time with her family, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and caring for her beloved poodle, Goldie.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
