Mary Louise Grimshaw Smedley, age 76, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born November 6, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Edna Woodcock Grimshaw. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Wilburn Ray Smedley, on July 5, 2010; three brothers, Dennis, Fred, and Leroy Grimshaw; one sister, Deloris Palmerton; one daughter-in-law, Donna Jean Hatton Smedley; and one son-in-law, Jack Lee Barber. Mary is survived by four sons, Ronald Ray Smedley and wife Tamme, Michael Lee Smedley, Steven Claude Smedley and wife Jackye, all of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Timothy Dean Smedley of West Liberty, Kentucky; two daughters, Susan Kay Wilson and husband Doug of Hickory, North Carolina, and Brenda Louise Miles and husband Robert of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Francis Levern Grimshaw of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Carol Ann Grimshaw and Verna May Folsom, both of Vassar, Michigan; 25 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. Mary was a homemaker, a devoted wife, who was faithful in caring for Wilburn until his passing, and a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was employed by Wal Mart in December 1987 and retired as a test scanner in June 2003. An active member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God for many years, Mary sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary McQuain and the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the New Smedley Cemetery on Dry Creek Road in Clearfield. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
