Obituary

Mary Jane Fields Thaxton, age 82, of Skaggs Lane, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. She was born July 31, 1929, in Wellford, West Virginia, a daughter of the late William S. and Mollie Young Fields. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Lee Fields and Roger Louis Fields, and two granddaughters, Heather Thaxton and Stacy Jean Thaxton. Her husband, Gene A. Thaxton, passed away March 11, 2004. Mrs. Thaxton is survived by four children, Nancy Jane Bedwell, widow of Linn A. Bedwell, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, Michael Gene Thaxton and companion Tina of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, Carol Ann Layne and companion Guy of Surprise, Arizona, and Molly Beth Ramsey and husband Tim of Hillsboro, Kentucky; two siblings, William Shelton Fields, Jr., and Janice Joy Kirkpatrick, both of Florida; seven grandchildren, Christopher Bedwell, Brent Bedwell, Mary Bedwell Bain, Eric Brown, Brenna Ramsey McDaniel, Nathan Layne, and Stephen Layne; and nine great grandchildren. Mary resided in Charleston, West Virginia, most of her life and had been a sales clerk at Stone and Thomas Department Store and The Diamond Department Store, both in Charleston. She was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Many favorite memories are held among her children and grandchildren who have wedding dresses, afghans, and other precious treasures. Mary was a fun-loving person who will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Charleston, West Virginia, with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, June 28, 2012, Graveside Services Interment: Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Charleston, WV
