On April 6, 1945, Mary Dowling was born at home in Brooklyn, NY, and passed away at her home in Morehead, KY, on October 30, 2022.

She was the fourth of sixth children.  Mary and her brothers and sisters were much loved by her parents and siblings.  Mary attended school in Brooklyn, NY, including St. Mary's Nursing School where she received her RN.    She worked as supervisor on the OB floor and delivered many babies.  That's where her love for midwifery began.  She attended the University of Mississippi at Jackson's Midwifery Program and graduated with honors.  Mary first practiced midwifery in Baton Rouge, LA, and taught students.  She moved to Morehead, KY, in 1977, where she continued her midwifery practice until she retired in 2011.  During her long career, Mary made many friends and shared her many talents with all.  During her career, she delivered with love and tenderness 9,011 babies.

Mary would appreciate prayers in lieu of flowers or food. At her request, services are private.  Mary's passing is a tremendous shock for everyone, especially her sister and brother.  Dick and Kathy need months to grieve and request privacy during this time.  Thank you for understanding.
