Marvin Stephen -Steve- Carpenter, age 51, of Largo, Florida, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011. Born July 16, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Virginia Lois Layne Carpenter of Clearfield, Kentucky, and the late Marvin Carpenter. In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy Hensley Carpenter, whom he married November 3,2002; one son, Chase Carpenter of Salyersville, Kentucky; four daughters, Kayla Carpenter of Lexington, Kentucky, Shay Carpenter, Dakota Carpenter, and Brooklyn Carpenter, all of Salyersville, Kentucky; one stepson, Gregory Gilbert and wife Rachel of Sizerock, Kentucky; one stepdaughter, Amey Gilbert Bowling and her husband Ralph Jr. of Sizerock, Kentucky; and six grandchildren, Jacob and Kayden Carpenter, Brittany, Kelly and Brandon Bowling, and Nakeya Gibson. Also surviving are three sisters, Terre Fielding, Barbara Ginter and husband Jesse, and Brenda Buckler and husband Jeff, all of Clearfield, Kentucky; three nieces, Christy and Shona Fielding and Joy Buckler; one nephew, Ryan Fielding and his wife Beth; two great nieces, McKensie Fielding and Nola Garris; and two great nephews, Damien Blevins and Josh Barker. Steve served in the U.S. Army, was a retired telecommunications engineer, and was a member of the Christway Church of God in Morehead, Kentucky. He loved animals and playing his guitar and especially enjoyed the outdoors. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Christway Church of God with Bishop Greg Guy officiating. Burial will follow in Carpenter Cemetery on Tick Ridge, Carter County, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012, at Christway Church of God, US 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky.
