Martha Frances Chelf Quisenberry, age 93, of Jewell Lane, Morehead, KY went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 14, 2026, at her home.
Born July 17, 1933, in Moreland, KY, she was the daughter of the late PeRoy Chelf and Bannie Mae Tarter Chelf. Martha was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. James Edward Quisenberry, on October 15, 2006.
Martha is survived by two daughters—Lynne Frances Hobstetter (Bill) of Cincinnati, OH and Martha Ann Howard (Jeffrey) of Morehead, KY; four grandchildren, Michael Elizabeth Turner (Joe), Audrey Grace Hobstetter, Wendill James Scott White III (Rhoda) and Elizabeth Faith Ann Robinson (Scott); four great-grandchildren, Cristabella Raynne Howard, Caroline Jade White, Josephine Mae White, Charles Edmund Turner—and eagerly awaiting the arrival of Baby Boy White in January 2027.
Martha earned her bachelor’s degree from Centre College, her master’s degree in guidance counseling from the University of Kentucky, and her Rank I in Reading from Morehead State University.
A dedicated educator for 35 years in Ohio and Kentucky, Martha retired from the Rowan County School System in 1995. During her 25 years with Rowan County, she taught sixth through eighth grades at Tilden Hogge and Clearfield Elementary Schools. She concluded her career at Rowan County Middle School, where she taught gifted math and Title I reading. She also coached Governor’s Scholars and Math Counts, encouraging and inspiring countless students along the way.
Martha and her husband shared a lifelong ministry of service through churches in Ohio and Kentucky, and Martha enthusiastly supported Jim when he traveled on international mission trips. Her faith was at the heart of her life and service to others. Until just six weeks before her passing, Martha continued to faithfully play the organ at Farmers Christian Church.
A selfless servant of Jesus, Martha devoted her life to her faith and to her family, raising and loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of faith, service, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Martha’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Farmers Christian Church (100 KY Hwy 801 S) with Brother Billy Noble officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hobstetter, Jeffrey Howard, James Scott White, Joe Turner, Scott Robinson, and Darwin Thoroughman.
Visitation for Martha Quisenberry is 6 p.m – 8 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
