Martha Frances Porter Thomas, age 80, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 24, 1935, in Carter County, Martha was a daughter of the late Paul and Arlene Goodan Porter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Porter and Curtis Porter, and two sisters, Wanda Manning and Patricia Stamper. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ival A. Thomas, on May 29, 2001. Martha lived in Morehead the past 59 years and was a former manager and cook at the Country Kitchen Restaurant, a supervisor at Mushroom Mines in Olive Hill, and retired at the age of 65 from Norge Village Laundry. She was a wonderful wife and mother of seven children and was a member of the Methodist Church at Fairview. She is survived by four sons, David (Cindy) Thomas, Douglas (Randa) Thomas, Paul Wade (Debbie) Thomas, and Rick (Kim) Thomas, all of Morehead; three daughters, Pamela (Ova) Arnett of Salt Lick, Kimberly (Jim) Thomas and Tabatha (Jeff) Harmon, all of Wallingford; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, Ray Porter of Olive Hill and John Paul Porter of Lawton; three sisters, Bonnie Thompson, Sue Dean, and LouElla Thompson, all of Carter County; several nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Dean, Pastor Andy Lands, and the Rev. Billy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery on Open Fork. Pallbearers will be her sons, sons-in-law, and grandson-in-law, Elwood Caudill, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, and anytime Friday, October 23, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Thursday, October 2015, 6 p.m. and anytime Friday, Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Funeral: Saturday, October 24, 2015, 11 a.m., Northcutt &Son Memorial Chapel Interment: Thomas Cemetery, Open Fork
