Martha Alice May Bird Raikes, age 84, of Pleasant Valley, Morehead, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after an extended illness.

Born May 20, 1942, at home in May Hollow in Rowan County, Alice was the daughter of the late Henry May and Jessie Johnson May. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Raikes; nine brothers, Hershel May, James May, Samuel E. May, Murl May, George May, Fred Puckett, Jerry May, Arlie Sherman May, and Vernon May; a sister Janice Parker; a granddaughter, Alice Jane Wallace; and a great granddaughter, Amya Jo Wallace.

She is survived by a daughter, April (James) Barker of Morehead; four grandchildren, Marvin (Bobbie) Wallace, Jr., Joseph Wallace, Jessie Wallace, and Laranda (Charles) Donathan; and seven great grandchildren, Shayla Adkins, Justin Dickerson, Lethan Stone, Blake Wallace, Nataly Donathan, Carlie Donathan, and Tucker Donathan.

Also surviving are three brothers, Lansford (Georgia) May, John May, and Tony Puckett; one sister, Eulalia Blevins, all of Morehead; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and friends.

Alice was a homemaker and was a former employee of Ball Manufacturing in Muncie, Indiana. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her flowers, and especially spending time with her family. Alice will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, with Brother Larry Hamm and Brother Josh Hauk officiating. Burial will follow in May Family Cemetery.

J. R. May. Honorary pallbearers: Lansford May, John May, and Tony Puckett.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
