Marla Martin Smith was born April 13, 1957, in West Liberty, KY to Delmer Glennis and Betty Jo Kidd and passed away peacefully at her home in Berea, KY on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Marla's three daughters, grandchildren, and family were the center of her world. She lived a selfless, service focused life and was generous with her time and love. She was an amazing cook and loved any excuse to get together and feed people. She didn't think twice about offering seats at Thanksgiving or any other holiday table. She made hosting look effortless.

Marla was a natural caregiver, she was quick to show up with a meal, a hug, or a prayer. After graduating with a degree in nursing from Morehead State University at 19, she was a home health nurse with St. Claire Medical for 30 years serving Elliott and surrounding counties. She cared for her patients with love and compassion and loved her co-workers dearly.

Marla loved the beach and planning trips. She loved decorating and crafting and was always sharing ideas or gifting the things she had made. Marla was known for her bargain hunting. She loved yard sales and thrift stores - she was always starting new collections whether they be Santa Clauses or baskets. She was a member of the Blairs Mill Church of Christ.

Marla is survived by her daughters: JoEllen Martin of Hardinsburg, KY, Glenna Martin (John Blankenship) and Sara Martin both of Berea, KY. Her two grandchildren:  Lela and Holt who were the light of her later years. Her mother:  Betty Jo Kidd, sister:  Devra Kidd (Paul), brother:  Dana Kidd (Phyllis) all of Blairs Mill, the father of her children: Robert Martin, and former husband: Mandel Smith. She was preceded in death by her father: Glennis Kidd.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Eric Conley officiating. Burial will follow at Cassity Cemetery in Blairs Mill, KY.

Visitation for Marla Martin Smith will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Marla's name to honor her years as a nurse and her commitment to keeping loved one's home during end-of- life care, when possible, to St. Claire Hospice, 201 Lyons Avenue, Moreh4ead, KY 40351.
