Mark “Cotton” Alan Gambill, age 64, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born October 27, 1961, in Ashland, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Bobby Gambill and Betty Lucille Hamilton Gambill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Lea Smedley.
He is survived by two children, Bobby Alan Gambill of Morehead and Tiffany Gambill of Grayson; five grandchildren, Andrew Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Chloe Dennis, Grace Gambill, and Steven Gambill; three sisters, Pamela Bang of Acton, California, Kim Russell of Morehead, and Karen Cline of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and friends.
Mark was a self-employed boring operator, specializing in developing road bores. He was a former inspector for Proctor, Davis, Ray Engineering and had also worked in the telecommunications industry. A man who enjoyed the outdoors, Mark loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.
Above all, Mark cherished the time he spent with his family. Cotton will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
At his request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Brown Cemetery with Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all contributions be made payable to Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, P.O. Box 388, Morehead, KY 40351 to assist with funeral expenses.
