Maria Ilona Adel -Bobbie- Magda, age 79, of Sunshine Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born October 1, 1929, in Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Laszlo Vucsics and Maria Malsovits Vucsics. In 1951, she married Dr. Louis Istvan Magda III. A member of the Hungarian Women-s Track Team, she participated in the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. She also participated in javelin, discus, and shot put at track meets throughout Europe. In 1956, they immigrated to America. Dr. Magda was Professor of Economics at Morehead State University. Mrs. Magda taught for many years, beginning in Ashtabula and West Holmes, Ohio, and continued at Olive Hill High School after moving to Morehead. She also taught for over 20 years in the Rowan County school system. She most recently was a member of the Farmers Christian Church. Dr. Magda preceded her in death in 1998. Their only son, Louis A. Magda IV, of Morehead, is her sole survivor. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. Don Flatt officiating. Mrs. Magda will be laid to rest next to Dr. Magda in Lee Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
