Magdalene Jones Daugherty, age 83, of Wells Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Phelps, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born October 5, 1929, in Pike County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Holland and Flara Riddle Jones. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Roger Daugherty, and one brother, Earl Jones, Sr. Magdalene is survived by her husband Earl Daugherty, whom she wed November 7, 1945; one son, Elmer Rankin Daugherty and wife Carol of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Wilma Sue Whitt and husband Eddie of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Mary Ann Lester of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Daniel and wife Kammy, Andy and wife Brittany, Jeremy, Jessica, Jonah, and Brian and wife Jana; five great grandchildren, Andrea, Payton, Alyssa, Austin, and Easton. Other survivors include one brother, Elmer Jones and wife Lois of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister, Norma Jean Mann and husband Glenn of Stone Mountain, Georgia; other family members and friends. Mrs. Daugherty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life focused on her family. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Davidson Memorial Gardens in Ivel, Kentucky, with Rev. Earl Jones, Jr. officiating.
