Obituary

Madge A. Thomas Elliott, age 84, formerly of Clearfield, widow of Dr. Charles H. Elliott, Jr., passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Mayfair Manor in Lexington.

Born October 20, 1936, in Morehead, she was a daughter of the late James Ruben Thomas and Sybrina Sparks Thomas.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, John Carl Thomas, Emma Lee Smith, Edith Chadwell, Ruby Elam, Claudie Thomas, and Mary Jane Kidd.

Madge was also preceded in death by two daughters, Beverly Sue "Susie" Day Taylor on September 12, 2015, and Pamela Ann Day Dillon on July 10, 2015.

She is survived by one son, James "Jay" Day and wife Teresa of Lexington; ten grandchildren, Jaliah Day-Klaiber, Amanda Day-Brown, Jason Jones, Todd Butler, Adam Butler, Andrew Dillon, Carie Faulkner, Stevie Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Aizhan Taylor; and several great grandchildren.

Other survivors include three brothers, Clyde A. Thomas, James E. Thomas and Clayton R. Thomas, and three sisters, Vinda Moore, Sue Hardin, and Bonnie Wood, all of Morehead, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Madge was a retired social worker and former employee of the Rowan County Health Department and Rowan County Middle School.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, and visiting with family and friends.  A devoted and loving family member, she much enjoyed participating in family reunions and other get-togethers.  She was an amazing cook for all occasions and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Madge was of the Baptist faith.

Private services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tony Hardin officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers:  Jason Jones, Adam Butler, Andrew Dillon, Stevie Taylor, Addie Thomas, and Greysen Day-Klaiber.

COVID-19 mandates will be observed.
