Obituary

Mable Marie Black Pickrell, age 84, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling. Born November 17, 1930, in Rowan County, to Henry and Sally Choate Black, she was preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings. Her husband, Floyd William Pickrell, whom she married September 27, 1947, passed away April 5, 2012. Mrs. Pickrell is survived by one son, Floyd David Pickrell and wife Edna of Clayton, North Carolina; two daughters, Donna Kay Pickrell and Pamela Hope Simmons, both of Mt. Sterling; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; two step great grandchildren; one step great-great granddaughter; one brother, Dewie Black and wife Helen of LaBelle, Florida; one sister, Darlene Black of Kenton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pickrell was a homemaker and lifelong Christian. She enjoyed all church activities, especially singing in church, and was a devoted wife and mother. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Dalton Collett, Tyler Griggs, Joey Griggs, Tim Smith, James Collett, Ricky Lewis, and Brandon Bush. Visitation is 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
